Salt might seem like an unlikely baking ingredients, but it's so very important!  I use sea salt to flavor everything from Caramels to Salted Ganache and (my favorite), Pistachio Financiers.  A little goes a very long way, so it's ok to splurge.

I love grating nutmeg and zesting citrus with this microplane.  Tip: remember to place your fruit over the microplace and zest with the sharp edges facing down; most of the flavor escapes with the oils while zesting, so allowing them to 'fall' into your bowl will yield yummier results.

A dough (also called bench) scraper is great for smoothing buttercreams and lifting pie doughs- one of my favorite kitchen tools!
